Dr. John E. Schloder Fine Arts Scholarship
Dr. John E. Schloder is a native of St. Marys, the son of the late Charles and Doris Schloder. He is a graduate of St. Marys Parochial School and Elk County Christian High School. He obtained his undergraduate degree from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh; his master’s degree from Columbia University in New York and his doctorate from the Institute of Art and Archaeology at the University of Paris-Sorbonne. Dr. Schloder began his career in the Paintings Department of the Musée du Louvre and is the retired Director of the Museum of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg, Florida. To qualify for this scholarship, you must be a graduating senior from St. Marys Area, Elk County Catholic, Ridgway Area or Johnsonburg Area High Schools, pursuing a career in the arts with preference to the visual or performing arts, art history, art education or museum studies. Candidate must have a minimum GPA of 2.5. Applications are available through the guidance counselor’s office of each school.
